Teacher Incentive Allotment

Teacher Incentive Allotment Overview

Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) was established with the goal of providing outstanding teachers an accessible pathway to a six-figure salary. Unlike previous education programs, the TIA is not a grant. Through approved local designation systems, districts can identify and designate outstanding teachers based on student growth and classroom observation. Employing designated teachers generates extra funding for districts to reward top performers.

TIA is built for Texas school districts to designate and reward top-performing teachers. Teachers can earn one of three levels of designation – Recognized, Exemplary, or Master. Teachers with a National Board certification are designated as Recognized. TIA was established with the goal of providing outstanding teachers an accessible pathway to a six-figure salary. This is accomplished in part by:

●     Recruitment: Hard to fill positions.

●     Retainment: Keep effective teachers in the classroom.

●     Rewarding: Ensure top teachers who become designated are rewarded with additional compensation.

2. District Local Designation System (LDS)

Teachers who earn one of the three designation levels from a district's LDS must meet requirements set for Teacher Observation Data from T-TESS and student growth data from Student Growth Measures determined by the district. Teacher Observation and Student Growth Measures will make up the teacher performance data that will be used to determine designations.
